Phyllis Haynes, CEO

Phyllis Haynes has been with the Foodbank since 1999.  She has led the organization to nearly double the distribution of food to hungry people in Arkansas through nearly 400 food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and other organizations that feed the hungry.  She was recently named to the Technology Governance Board of Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization.The board sets Feeding America’s direction in implementing new technologies to better manage food donations and fundraising, supply-chain systems, accounting, and other efforts.

Prior to joining the Foodbank, Phyllis spent 16 years as executive director of Arkansas ABLE, a nonprofit organization that helped over 8,000 older Arkansans find jobs.  In the past, she has been a music teacher with the Little Rock Public Schools, working mostly with junior high school students.  Phyllis has also been a Dale Carnegie instructor with Jerry Wilson and Associates. 
 
Phyllis has a master’s degree in Public Administration from UALR and a master’s in Education from Florida State University in Tallahassee.  She is a graduate of Leadership Greater Little Rock, a member of the downtown Kiwanis Club and is a board member with KUAR/KLRE public radio. She is a member of the Art Porter Singers.  Her hobbies include racing sailboats, gardening, and singing at Friday night church.
