"Stamp Out Hunger" National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive
Sat. May 10 leave a bag on non-perishable food items next to your mail box and your letter carrier will pick it up on his/her route. NALC is a national event and the largest single day food drive. Last year, Central Arkansas contributed more than 106,000 pounds of food. Please help us make this year an even greater success!
Come kick off this exciting event at a news conference on Wednesday May 7 at 10:00 a.m. at the Clinton School of Public Service (next door to the William J. Clinton Library).
In addition to putting food by your mail box, you can come help us sort collected food at the Foodbank warehouse from 6-10:30 pm on the 10th and/or schedule a time to help us as we continue to sort food throughout the following few weeks, May 12-16, 19-23. Reusable Grocery Totes
Get yours today for a minimum donation of $25. Purchased totes will need to be picked up at the Arkansas Foodbank Network. Totes are now also available at Gifts of Arkansas lacoated 123 East Markham in Little Rock, www.giftsofarkansas.com as well as at the Box Turtle located on 2616 Kavanaugh Blvd. Contact the Foodbank at 501.565.8121 for more information.

Healthscope Benefits Food Drive
I have only one word that would describe this Food Drive...WOW !!! You went above and beyond to show you care about our community. The total amount of food collected was 1,408 lbs.
The Peanut Butter Drive was so successful, here is the break down and the winners.

- Customer Service 870 ounces
- Benefit Admin 2,248 ounces
- Claims Admin 2,346 ounces
- Mary Catherine/Gary IT 3,476 ounces

Check Presentation
Wal-Mart Representatives along with Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter presented a $10,000 check to Phyllis Haynes, Executive Director of the Arkansas Foodbank Network on February 25, 2008.

Kids Canstruction 2008
Under the guidance of design professionals, teams of 3rd through 8th grade children from local schools built giant artistic structures out of canned food.
Location: Pleasant Ridge Town Center in Little Rock
Structures will remain on display from Feb. 2 until Feb. 16. Admission is free.
Canstruction 2008
Location: William J. Clinton Presidential Library
Canstruction is a design/build competition to create structures built entirely out of canned foods showcasing the ingenuity of Arkansas' design community to benefit hungry Arkansans. The structures were on display at the Clinton Library from Jan. 17 - Feb. 4 (admission: adults $7, children/students/military $5). Once the structures are dismantled, the more than 15,000 pounds of food will fill the shelves of the Arkansas Foodbank Network.
Arkansas First Lady Ginger Beebe presented the 2008 Canstruction Awards at a reception, Friday, January 18, in the Great Hall of the William J. Clinton Presidential Library.
1. Overall Winner: "The Big Can Bridge" - Cromwell Architects Engineers, Inc.
2. Structural Integrity: "Get off Your Can Man" - The Wilcox Group
3. Best Use of Labels: "Super Mario Bros." - Witsell Evans Rasco Architects/Baldwin & Shell Construction
4. Best Meal: "Our Can Saw" - Fennell Purifoy Hammock Architects
5. Honorable Mention: "I-Can" - Williams and Dean Architects and the "Canburger" - Roark Perkins Perry Yelvington/May Construction

2007 Annual Agency Appreciation Luncheon
Thank you to the agencies, supporters, volunteers, Board Members, Harvesters and others who joined us for our Annual Luncheon. We had a great time celebrating the work you all do to help feed hungry Arkansans. Thanks to Governor Beebe for joining us in thanking all who join in the mission to end hunger, to Tom Brannon, Mitch Berry and Shelly Lane for their involvement in the luncheon. Golf-for-Food 2007
Thank you to all who participated in our 2007 Golf-for Food Tournament held on Monday, Sept. 17, 2007. Thank you to the Harvesters for your hard work and dedication. Thank you also to Golden Corral for providing an incredible lunch. The weather was perfect, the food exquisite and all around an extremely successful event. The tournament brought in more than $31,000… the most we have ever raised.

April 27, 2007: 5th Annual Empty Bowls Art Auction
Empty Bowls is the Arkansas Foodbank Network's annual auction of fine artwork from local artists! The event was held on Friday, April 27, 2007 from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Ballroom (Little Rock). Empty Bowls is organized by Harvesters, The Arkansas Foodbank Network's Young Professionals Fundraising Group.
This year marked our most successful event to date. Empty Bowls raised almost $39,000 to help feed hungry people. Thank you to our sponsors, artists, donors and attendees for making this the best Empty Bowls yet!
