Farmer's Market partners with Foodbank to provide food for school
KATV
August 14, 2014:
The Little Rock Farmer's Market is partnering with the Arkansas Food Bank to stock the school pantry at Wakefield Elementary School.

School pantries operate much like other food pantries, assisting low income families, but school pantries are usually located on school campuses and only serve school children and their families.

Most pantries stock canned, dried and otherwise prepackaged food, but because of the partnership with the farmer's market, patrons and donors will be able to purchase fresh food to donate to the pantry.

Diana Long, Director of River Market Operations, said, "We knew it would be a great fit with our mission of bringing fresh food and community together".

Being involved with Foodbank is an important part of the Everett family business, notes Susie. Her husband, Dwight, wears a bracelet that reads “B.A.G.S. (be a good steward).” “We have been blessed and should be good stewards of what God has given us. We want to run our business with integrity and fairness and want to make a difference. We can’t impact every need or charity, but hopefully, we can make a small difference, which can go a long way in helping those in need of food.”
