Chief Officers

Rhonda Sanders – CEO

Rhonda Sanders is a former executive director of the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, a statewide coalition of hunger relief groups with more than 100 member organizations, including Arkansas’ six Feeding America food banks. At the Alliance she implemented the Arkansas State Food Purchasing Program, the Arkansas Gleaning Network and, with Gov. Mike Beebe and the national childhood hunger organization Share Our Strength, Arkansas’ No Kid Hungry Campaign, which has become a model program achieving national attention. Prior to this, Sanders worked for 14 years at Arkansas Advocates for Children & Families, where she served as Director of Health Policy and Legislative Affairs.  Ms. Sanders was an original member of the Natural Wonders Partnership Council and was a co-author of the first Natural Wonders Report in 2007.  Before joining Arkansas Advocates, she worked at the Arkansas Department of Health for five years, where she served as director of the Child Health Planning Project, acting assistant director of the WIC program, and lead trainer for the data processing department. Sanders has also directed the Arkansas Home Visiting Network at Arkansas Children's Hospital, where she developed and expanded a statewide network of preschool home visiting programs. Sanders is a member of the Children’s Behavioral Health Care Commission and served from 2003-08 as a member of the Child Health Advisory Committee for ACT 1220. During her tenure on the committee, the Body Mass Index project was implemented in Arkansas, and State Nutrition and Physical Activity Standards for Schools were adopted by the Arkansas Department of Education. She is currently a member of the Bryant School Board and serves on various committees, boards and task forces working to improve the well-being of vulnerable Arkansans.  She is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University with a degree in accounting, and earned a master's in Public Health from the University of Arkansas Medical School's College of Public Health. 


Kevin Nelson – Chief Operations Officer

Kevin Nelson recently joined the Foodbank team in September 2015. He is responsible for all operational functions including facilities, warehousing, and distribution. Prior to joining the Arkansas Foodbank, he spent 5 years at Glazer’s Distributors of Arkansas, Inc. as a Transportation Manager and the Director of Operations.  He is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas, and has over 14 years of management experience in warehousing and logistics. 


Greg Furr – Chief Financial Officer 

In so many words, Greg is our numbers guy. He loves accounting and loves working to help others. Greg came to the Arkansas Foodbank after many years in a high profile financial position with J.C. Penney in Texas. Yes, we know, we are very fortunate. As a child Greg thought he wanted to be a Baseball Pitcher, Doctor or a Truck Driver – in that order. Lucky for us those didn’t work out so well. These days Greg spends his time paying the bills and making sure hungry Arkansans get the food they need most.


Jayne Ann Kita – Chief Program Officer

Jayne Ann Kita joined the Foodbank in January 2015.  She has over twenty-five years of experience in non-profit management and development.  Jayne Ann worked for the Arkansas Coalition Against Domestic Violence for twelve years and served as their Executive Director from 2004 to 2013.  While at the ACADV, she successful worked to support legislation to hold batterers accountable, protect victims and their children and to provide the first continuous state funding to support domestic violence shelters in Arkansas.  Domestic violence services in Arkansas saw much development during her tenure as Program and Fiscal Standards were developed for Arkansas shelters and formal staff education was developed. Jayne Ann has worked with at-risk youth and as an investigator and case manager for families with a child abuse problem.  She has worked as the director of training for SCAN, an instructor for child protective service workers at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock's MidSOUTH Academy, and an instructor at Auburn University as part of the Army Community Services Program at Ft. Rucker, AL.   Jayne Ann was the founding executive director of the Pastoral Project on Domestic Violence (PPDV) in Omaha, Nebraska while working for the Archdiocese of Omaha and Catholic Charities. Jayne Ann and her husband Gary reside in North Little Rock and have three children.


Jennifer Martinez Belt – Chief Development Officer

Jennifer Martinez Belt has been with the Foodbank since 2013. She has over 15 years of experience in public affairs, strategic communications, non-profit development and volunteer/membership management. She began her career on Capitol Hill working for Congressman Vic Snyder, Congressman Marion Berry, Senator Blanche Lincoln and the Clinton Administration.
As the Foodbank's chief development officer, she oversees all fundraising efforts and serves as the lead for major and planned giving. A native of Fort Smith, Belt graduated from the University of Central Arkansas and most recently served as development director for the Literacy Council in Fort Bend County, Texas. She's also served as development director for the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation and executive director of the Arkansas Optometric Association. Jennifer serves on the city of Little Rock’s planning commission, Legislative Task Force on Autism and Governor’s Developmental Disabilities Council. She is a member of AFP and Rotary Club 99. She and her husband, Scott, reside in Little Rock and have two small children.


Cassandra Gilbert Chief Reporting and Process Improvement Officer  

Cassandra Gilbert is the Chief Reporting and Process Improvement Officer.  She brings over 30 years of professional nonprofit management experience, with over 10 years at the Arkansas Foodbank.  In 2014, Cassandra was recognized as CFO of the year finalist with Arkansas Business.  In her current role as Chief Reporting and Process Improvement Officer, she provides technical assistance to the organization, troubleshoots inventory issues, serves as the Grant Compliance Officer and also serves as the Administrator for the finance and inventory computer programs.  Cassandra’s greatest strengths are her drive and leadership qualities.  She thrives on challenges, particularly those that expand the company’s reach.   Cassandra began her professional career as a as Director of Fiscal Operations for a nonprofit organization and later served over 13 years with the University of Arkansas Criminal Justice Institute as the Financial Services Administrator.  Cassandra is also a certified Human Resource professional.  Cassandra attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.   A combination of education and experience has afforded Cassandra a thorough working knowledge of nonprofit finances, business management, and leadership qualities.

Lauren McElroy Chief Analytics and Impact Officer

Lauren McElroy has over eight years of experience in hunger relief in Arkansas.  She began her career at the Arkansas Rice Depot working with project management, program administration, and development.  As the Foodbank’s Chief Analytics & Impact Officer, Lauren is responsible for developing strategies and assessing our impact to support the goals and initiatives of the Arkansas Foodbank.  She is a graduate of Centenary College of Louisiana with a degree in Business Administration, and earned a master’s in Business Administration from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.
